Software and Utilities for Alarm System Dealers

DSC PC5401 Tester
I was poking around the DSC supplier a few months ago and discovered, on a back shelf, a little box with a PC5401 in it. I guess it's supposed to be the successor to the printer module, but no one seemed to know much about it. It looked intriguing, so I picked one up. It turns out its a wonderful little RS232 interface that goes on the data bus and allows access to most 832 series panel functions. I wrote a little application (here for download) to test all it's functionality. Currently, I'm using it to design a "people counter" windows application for a small local retailer. I'll keep you posted.
Installation:
- Download the zip archive of the software and Access database
- Extract the archive to your desktop. There's 2 files, the program file and a database file.
- Run the files through your favorite anti-virus software if you're a little leery.
- Run PC5401.exe by double clicking on it.
Note ... It's not necessary to have a PC5401 connected to your computer to run the software, but it's not very impressive without :) .... oh .... screenshots ... or
