A Little About How We're Approaching The Future ...
What is MyAlarm.com?
MyAlarm.com is a project committed to completely redeveloping and restructuring
the way we monitor and respond to our existing alarm systems. With over-worked police
forces in North America continually having to decrease the priority of response
to residential and commerical alarm systems and the move by municipalities nation-wide
to adopt by-laws that levy huge fines and fees for false alarms, a new paradigm
is needed to broadcast and react to security alerts. MyAlarm.com is determined to
bridge this gap.
Is MyAlarm.com an alarm company?
Located in Richmond, BC, Canada, MyAlarm.com is a fully licensed, bonded and fully insured security alarm monitoring, service and installation company. We're pushing the envelope of alarm monitoring by developing "Next Generation" custom software and internet applications to interface your
existing alarm system with the internet, the cellular network and other broadcasters
so that security information is easy to access and distribute. This results in a quicker
and more effective response plan to any and all alerts generated from subscribed sites.
Is MyAlarm.com a monitoring station?
MyAlarm.com uses some of the same UL/ULC equipment to receive
and process the signals sent from your alarm system as listed Central Stations.
But ... we've designed custom software interfaces to process your transmitted alarm
data and make it useful to you and any other persons or security services that you
authorize.
By subscribing to our unique "Dual Alert" alarm monitoring package, you also get the comfort of having all alarms mirrored to a live-operator UL/ULC Central Monitoring station.
Does MyAlarm.com dispatch Police, Fire or Ambulance services?
MyAlarm.com leaves the decisions for response routing up to you. Using a combination
of email, cell text messaging and MSN-style pop-up alerts, you control the response
plan for each and every alarm system event from each site. For example, you might message yourself
and family members when a user disarms the system. You might message yourself, your
neighbours and a MyAlarm.com authorized guard service if there's a burglary attempt.
You and the people on your response plan can then decide whether a call to 911 is
warranted.
- You could even message your plumber if water is detected in your basement!
-
Email, Text message and/or MSN the entire family when Gramma or Grampa pushes the
medical alert!
- Get pop-ups on the office computer when the kids get home from
school.
- Keep track of branch office and cleaning staff.
With the right detection device connected to your alarm system, any event anywhere
can have a response plan.
Note: Subscribers of the "Dual Alert" monitoring package have all the advantages of Live-Operator dispatch of authorities for all critical alarm signals.
What is a "response plan"?
Alarm systems are useless without an effective response plan ... even if it's only
to make a big noise with a siren to alert the neighbours! With MyAlarm.com, you
create a list of people and messaging options to create an automatic response to
any signal your alarm system sends. Different signals from different zones can have
different response plans so that you can create a different type of response depending
on the situation.
Why have the police stopped responding to burglar alarm dispatches?
Over-worked and short-staffed police officials from almost every major city in North
America have cited alarm system false alarms as the reason for denial or reduction
of police response to alarms. MyAlarm.com is attempting, through software and web
application design, to create a better system for monitoring alarm systems that
will provide you with more effective and efficient security response. Our objectives
are, ultimately, to welcome forward-looking policing authorities that want to participate
in our community security redevelopment project. Those who recognize the advantages
MyAlarm.com as being a part of a greater collective security response plan will
be able to provide better policing services to their communities and tax payers.
Can a hacker turn my alarm system off?
No. Currently, MyAlarm.com is only a signal receiver and electronic alert forwarding
service. There is no direct control link from MyAlarm.com to your alarm system.
MyAlarm.com is simply maximizing the potential of the information that any alarm
system is capable of sending. You decide what information is sent and you decide
what information is distributed.
Can I keep my traditional alarm monitoring service?
Yes. Almost all alarm panels have the capability of using more than one monitoring
service. Some people find that MyAlarm.com's services meet all their security monitoring
needs. Some people like the comfort of having a live operator to talk to, and have
added MyAlarm.com as a secondary monitoring service.
How do I enable MyAlarm.com monitoring services?
If you have the correct programming codes for your alarm system, you can either
program your alarm system yourself using the helpful programming guides available
on our website, or take advantage of the experience of our technical staff. They'll
help you through the setup, initial testing and configuring of your MyAlarm.com
account. MyAlarm.com is also accepting applications from dealers in all municipalites
in North America who want their customers to have the security advantage of MyAlarm.com's
extended monitoring services.
How much do MyAlarm.com services cost?
We think you'll find MyAlarm.com's alarm monitoring services to be cost effective and efficient. Details on
